Lithuania's Foreign Vice-Minister Taurimas Valys, met with Google executive Marta Poslad

On 30 June, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Taurimas Valys, met with Marta Poslad, Head of Public Policy & Government Relations for Central and Eastern Europe at Google. The meeting focused on the priorities of the upcoming Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the EU and transatlantic cooperation in the field of technology.

In discussing the priorities of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the EU, a joint vision was agreed that the pursuit of the EU's technological sovereignty does not mean closing off its borders, but the development of technological capabilities of particular importance, a possibility to choose, security, and reliable partnerships - with a special focus on transatlantic relations.

"Real technological sovereignty balances the ability to have critical capabilities in Europe with the maintenance of open, trustworthy partnerships with allies, especially in the transatlantic space," said Vice-Minister Valys.

Today's challenges call for closer cooperation to strengthen Europe's competitiveness, security and resilience, together with reliable partners.
