Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister meets with Spain’s Ambassador

On 7 February, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Darius Skusevičius met with Spain’s Ambassador to Lithuania Emilio Fernández-Castaño. In the meeting, the officials discussed bilateral cooperation, the EU’s security and defence, the European Neighbourhood Policy and other issues.

“In the current situation, it is necessary to maintain the EU’s unity and solidarity, in particular relating to regional security issues. We welcome the first troops of the NATO enhanced forward presence battalion in Lithuania,” said Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister.

As regards our bilateral relations, Skusevičius expressed his gladness for the successful bilateral military cooperation. Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister thanked for the second deployment of the Spanish Air Force jets to Šiauliai in support of NATO’s Baltic Air Policing mission in 2016, as well as called for further development of security and defence cooperation.
