Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister meets with Head of Crimean Tatar Mejlis, highlights Lithuania’s strong position on non-recognition policy of annexation of Crimea
On 15 March, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Andrius Krivas and the member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Head of the Crimean Tatar Mejlis, President of the Worldwide Congress of the Crimean Tatars Refat Chubarov, who is visiting Vilnius, discussed the agenda of bilateral cooperation and the situation of the Crimean Tatar community.
Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister pledged the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry’s assistance for the preparation for a session of the Executive Committee of the Worldwide Congress of the Crimean Tatars this April in Lithuania.
The guest acquainted Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister with attempts by Crimea’s new Russian occupation authorities to discredit the Crimean Tatars, the intention of banning the activities of the Mejlis and other actions, which blatantly violated the rights of the Crimean Tatars.
Krivas confirmed Lithuania’s unwavering support for the independence of Ukraine, its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and consistent non-recognition policy of the illegal annexation of Crimea. Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister condemned the ongoing violation by the Russian occupation authorities of the rights of the Crimean Tatars.
The meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania was also attended by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Lithuania Volodymyr Yatsenkivskyi and the Chairman of the Lithuanian Tatar Union Adas Jokubauskas.
