Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister: Lithuania supports Sri Lanka’s reform agenda
On 29 September, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Neris Germanas met the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Lithuania Renuka Damayanthie Rajapakse to discuss bilateral cooperation, the promotion of economic and business ties, and student exchange opportunities.
Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister said that Lithuania together with the European Union as a whole supported Sri Lanka’s reform agenda, which aimed to ensure respect for human rights, as well as the principles of good governance and the rule of law.
On the same day, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador presented her letters of credence to the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė.
Lithuania and Sri Lanka established diplomatic relations on 20 August 1996. Renuka Damayanthie Rajapakse, who resides in Stockholm, is the seventh Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Lithuania. She is also accredited to Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Estonia and Latvia. Lithuania’s Ambassador to India Laimonas Talat-Kelpša has been appointed as the country’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka.
