LITHUANIA’S FOREIGN VICE-MINISTER IS ATTENDING MOLDOVA PARTNERSHIP FORUM IN BRUSSELS
On 24 March in Brussels, Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Evaldas Ignatavičius is taking part in the Consultative Group Meeting: Moldova Partnership Forum.
During the meeting, Moldova’s Prime Minister Vlad Filat will be presenting Moldova’s priority areas for reforms and their need. Coordination of external assistance to support Moldova is discussed at the forum.
It is expected that international donors will help Moldova, which is confronting consequences of a serious financial crisis, but is determined to continue its internal reforms in a difficult economic and political situation.
At the meeting, Vice-Minister E.Ignatavičius intends to emphasize Lithuania’s support for the new pro-European Moldovan Government, which aims to draw closer to the EU.
This year, Lithuania continues to provide development cooperation assistance to Moldova. In 2010, the projects in Moldova would focus on the customs audit, as well as European integration projects and expert visits would continue, cooperation with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) would be maintained.
Under the Development Cooperation Programme of the Government of Lithuania for 2009, eight projects worth 158 thousand Litas were implemented in Moldova. The development cooperation projects that would be implemented in Moldova in 2010 are tentatively estimated at about 160 thousand Litas.
