Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister calls for strengthened economic partnership with Lithuania at Honorary Consuls’ meeting in India

On 11-12 November in Delhi, Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Mantvydas Bekešius is participating in the regional meeting of Lithuanian Honorary Consuls in Delhi, India. The event aims to intensify the cooperation with Lithuanian Honorary Consuls and to ensure the promotion of the economic partnership between Lithuania and Southeast Asia.

“The discussions have made it very clear that sharing experience in the fields of agriculture, education, tourism and high technology is the most promising area of cooperation in the region,” said the Foreign Vice-Minister.

During the event, the Honorary Consuls are getting acquainted with important political and economic issues for Lithuania, our country’s economic advantages, export and investment opportunities. The participants of the meeting are also getting acquainted with the Lithuanian educational system and conditions for foreign students to study in Lithuania.

The Lithuanian delegation consists of representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture, the business promotion agency Enterprise Lithuania, the Education Exchanges Support Foundation, Lithuanian health sciences and Mykolas Romeris University.

Lithuania’s Honorary Consuls in Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, as well as candidates to be appointed as Honorary Consuls in India and Mongolia are attending the meeting.

Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of Agriculture Saulius Cironka participated in the Honorary Consuls’ meeting on 10 November in Delhi. He also met with Ashish Bahuguna, Secretary of the Department of Agriculture and Cooperation in the Indian Ministry of Agriculture. The Vice-Minister of Agriculture presented Lithuania’s experience of the agricultural sector development and modern governance models. S.Cironka also called on the Indian Government to prepare and sign the bilateral Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture as soon as possible.
