LITHUANIA’S FOREIGN VICE-MINISTER ATTENDS THE STATE OF EUROPE ROUNDTABLE IN BRUSSELS

On 14 October in Brussels, Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Egidijus Meilūnas attended the State of Europe high-level brainstorming roundtable entitled “Tough Questions for the EU”, which was held by the EU’s think-tank Friends of Europe with the support of Belgian European Union Presidency.The list of the roundtable’s participants includes political leaders of the EU and member states, President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek, Prime Minister of Belgium Yves Leterme, representatives from business, media and the academic community.

The roundtable focused on the strengthening of economic coordination, increasing of the EU’s competitiveness in the global context, the EU’s long term priorities and ability to act in a coordinated way in the fields of foreign policy, security and energy policy.

Friends of Europe is an independent, not-for-profit think-tank. Based in Brussels, the centre annually organizes discussions on the subject of the EU integration for top politicians, businessmen, and analysts from the entire EU.
