Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister and the British Ambassador discuss the provision of support to Eastern Partnership countries and security issues
On 27 February, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Darius Skusevičius met with the British Ambassador to Lithuania Claire Lawrence and discussed the provision of support to Eastern Partnership countries and security issues.
“The United Kingdom is an important and reliable partner of Lithuania. Our countries hold the same view about many issues, including the provision of support to Eastern Partnership countries. We must strive to have due attention maintained by the EU to the implementation of the Eastern Partnership initiative and to prepare properly for the next Eastern Partnership Summit, which will take place in November 2017 in Brussels,” said Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister.
The officials emphasized that it was important to support Ukraine’s reform agenda, to complete the ratification of the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine, and to grant visa-free travel for Ukraine and Georgia.
Skusevičius also noted that Lithuania appreciated its cooperation with the United Kingdom in the field of defence and thanked the Ambassador for her contribution to security in our region.
