Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister and representative of the U.S. Department of State discuss bilateral cooperation and security policy issues

Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Andrius Krivas 28 October in Vilnius met with the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Brent Hartley.

At the meeting, the officials welcomed the strengthening of bilateral ties, noted to the importance of their dynamics and visibility of the United States of America in our region. The Foreign Vice-Minister called on the U.S.A. to continue to be Lithuania’s active ally for addressing energy and economic security issues.

The U.S.A. was also requested to actively contribute to the implementation of decisions taken at the NATO Summit in Wales with regard to taking measures of collective-defence in Lithuania.

Vice-Minister Krivas highlighted Lithuania’s principled position on the necessity to consistently apply sanctions against Russia for its aggression against Ukraine  and called on the U.S. to maintain its leadership in this regard.

The high-ranking official of the U.S. Department of State will also meet with the Minister of National Defence, representatives of the Office of the President, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of National Defence and media.
