Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister and Finnish Under-Secretary of State discuss bilateral relations and situation in the region
On 4 February in Helsinki, Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Mantvydas Bekešius met with Jaakko Laajava, Political Under-Secretary of State of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. The meeting discussed bilateral economic and political ties, the situation in the region and Ukraine.
M.Bekešius stressed that the EU should join efforts in providing various assistance to Ukraine, as well as to maintain a consistent policy towards Russia.
“Finland is Lithuania’s important business partner, as growing bilateral trade volume and new investments of this country in Lithuania clearly show,” stressed M.Bekešius.
The Under-Secretary of State of Finland promised to continue to support Lithuania’s accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and candidacy to the Executive Board of UNESCO.
On the same day, M.Bekešius will take part in the opening ceremony of Lithuania’s Honorary Consulate in the city of Kuopio.
