Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister and Australian Ambassador discuss ways to develop economic relations

In a meeting with the new Ambassador of Australia to Lithuania Paul Wojciechowski on 17 June, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Neris Germanas called for expanding bilateral economic relations and promoting trade.

According to Lithuania’s Foreign Vice-Minister, Lithuanian and Australian state scientific institutions could pursue closer cooperation in research and technology. Australian representatives were also invited to attend the “Forum Life Sciences Baltics 2016”.

In a meeting, the officials discussed the possibility of concluding a bilateral social security agreement, which allows citizens to move between the two countries and protect their pension entitlements, and an agreement on the Australian Working Holiday programme, which would give Lithuanian citizens the opportunity to enjoy working holidays in Australia.

After the meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Australian Ambassador presented his letters of credence to the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė.
