LITHUANIA’S FOREIGN VICE-MINISTER AND AMBASSADOR OF COTE D'IVOIRE DISCUSSED THE DEVELOPMENT OF BILATERAL RELATIONS
On 19 June in Vilnius, Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Asta Skaisgirytė Liauškienė and the new Ambassador of Cote d'Ivoire to Lithuania Philibert Gnagno Fagnidi discussed development of bilateral relations in the areas of economy, trade and culture, as well as cooperation within international fora.
The Ambassador, who arrived to present credentials to President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė, said that Cote d'Ivoire aimed to remain the economic center of gravity and looked for new markets for its production and for potential investors into the country’s economy.
The Vice-Minister welcomed the decision of the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire to accredit an ambassador to Lithuania after 9 years and assured that Lithuania was ready to fully contribute to the development of bilateral relations.
Philibert Gnagno Fagnidi, who resides in Moscow, stressed that he would make every effort to strengthen economic and trade relations with Lithuania and invited Lithuanian entrepreneurs to make better use of the port of Abidjan. In the continent of Africa, only Durban exceeds this port in size.
Lithuania and the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire established diplomatic relations on 21 October 1997.
