Lithuania's Foreign Vice-Minister Adomėnas expresses his strong protest over Russia's military operation in Ukraine to Russian Ambassador
On 24 February, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania summoned the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Lithuania Alexey Isakov, to whom the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Mantas Adomėnas expressed his strong protest over Russia’s illegal full-scale military invasion of Ukraine.
This is an unprecedented military assault on a democratic state of Ukraine on completely fabricated grounds, as well as a serious violation of its territorial integrity, sovereignty, and international law.
According to Adomėnas, Russia bears full responsibility for this brutal act of aggression, loss of life and human suffering, which has already been caused and will be caused by Russia's barbaric actions.
“The democratic world will give a proper response to Russia's military aggression. The international community will do its utmost to hold those responsible for this military invasion to account,” the Foreign Vice-Minister said.
Adomėnas also called on Russia to immediately cease its military operation in Ukraine and to withdraw its troops from the territory of Ukraine.
The Foreign Vice-Minister also noted that the European Union and its transatlantic partners had already adopted the first sanctions package and planned to substantially extend it in the nearest future.
Adomėnas also assured Russia's Ambassador that Lithuania and other EU countries would continue to fully support Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration and, together with allies and partners, would provide all necessary assistance, including weapons.
