Lithuania's Foreign Ministry strongly condemns Russia's attacks on civilians in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania strongly condemns attacks by Russia's armed forces on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, targeting innocent civilians and civilian infrastructure.
The attack of 9 October on the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia that killed 20 people and missile attacks that hit Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Dnipro, Lviv, Khmelnytskyi and other cities on 10 October extend a list of Russia’s war crimes. Russia must be held accountable for violations of international law.
Strikes by Russian military forces on Ukrainian civilians and civilian infrastructure constitute gross violations of international humanitarian law and of the obligation to protect civilians. Russia’s terror tactics show the regime’s desperation.
We call on Russia to immediately cease its aggression against Ukraine and to withdraw its military forces from all of Ukraine. In the face of this brutality, Ukraine needs maximum support, including military, from the international community and partners to defend its population. Together with our partners, we will spare no effort to support Ukraine and its people in their fight for a free, sovereign, and democratic future of their country.
