Lithuania's Foreign Ministry signs a cooperation agreement with the Military Academy
On 16 December, the Chancellor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Inga Černiuk and the Commandant of the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania, Col Juozas Kačergius signed a cooperation agreement between the Foreign Ministry and the Military Academy.
Lithuania's Foreign Ministry seeks to strengthen its cooperation and dialogue with the academic community, and searches for new ways to encourage cadets to learn about foreign policy. “We are looking for forms of cooperation that would make sense to both the Foreign Ministry and the Military Academy. There are certainly areas in which it is worth to share our experience and find new ways to solve problems,” said Černiuk.
Closer ties between the Foreign Ministry and the Military Academy would contribute to the formulation of Lithuania's foreign policy priorities and the circulation of useful knowledge and experience. Lithuania's Foreign Ministry aims to make use of the already tested forms of cooperation: lectures, academy expert insights, study programs and topics of master’s papers, research and projects aimed to promote better communication among diplomats, the Academy's community and cadets.
In 2021, Lithuania's Foreign Ministry signed agreements with the majority of Lithuanian universities. At the moment, good cooperation practices are being developed and long-term projects, such as the MFA's Young Talents and Mentorship programs, are successfully implemented.
