Lithuania's Foreign Ministry signed a cooperation agreement with Vilnius University
On 20 December, the Chancellor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Inga Černiuk and the Rector of Vilnius University, Prof Dr Rimvydas Petrauskas signed a cooperation agreement between the Foreign Ministry and Vilnius University.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that this agreement will help to strengthen cooperation and dialogue with the academic community of Vilnius University in various fields and to find new forms of cooperation.
“This year, in order to renew the Lithuanian diplomatic service's systematic cooperation with the academic community, the Foreign Ministry identified significant areas of this cooperation and signed agreements with the majority of Lithuanian universities,” said Černiuk. “Good cooperation practices are being developed and long-term projects, such as the MFA's Young Talents and Mentorship programs, are successfully implemented”.
The cooperation between the Foreign Ministry and universities contributes to the formulation of Lithuania's foreign policy priorities, the circulation of useful knowledge and experience in academic and public domains, and creates new opportunities for joint public and cultural diplomacy projects. To develop the cooperation further, Lithuania's Foreign Ministry will make use of the already tested forms: lectures, academy expert insights, study programs and topics of master’s papers, research and projects aimed to promote better communication between diplomats and the academic community.
