Lithuania’s Foreign Ministry sends note of protest to Russian Embassy over obstruction of freedom of navigation
On 17 September, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania sent a note of protest to the Russian Embassy in Lithuania over the repeated obstruction by the naval forces of the Russian Federation of the freedom of navigation on 15 September in the exclusive economic zone of Lithuania in the Baltic Sea.
The Foreign Ministry expressed its protest over the actions by the naval forces of the Russian Federation, which have restrained the freedom of navigation in the exclusive economic zone of Lithuania and noted that similar incidents had been reported not for the first time, as well as called on competent Russian authorities to ensure that peaceful shipping and legitimate economic activities in the Baltic Sea would not be hindered in the future.
