Lithuania's Foreign Ministry protests over Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilians
Today, on 25 April, the Chargé d'affaires ad interim of the Embassy of the Russian Federation to Lithuania was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to express a protest over the brutal attacks of the Russian armed forces on civilians in Ukraine in violation of international humanitarian law. It was noted that during peace talks, the Russian leadership was only intensifying the offensive and revealing its true intentions to enslave Ukraine through its terrorist actions.
On the night of April 24 alone, Russian missiles and drones attacked residential areas of Kyiv, killing twelve civilians and injuring nearly a hundred. People were also injured during the attack of April 25 on apartment buildings in the cities of Nikopol, Kharkiv, and Pavlohrad. In April alone, the United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission verified 848 civilian casualties (151 killed and 697 injured)—a 46 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
