Lithuania’s Foreign Ministry condemns Russian Court’s jail sentence for Estonian officer

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania condemns the decision taken by the Pskov Region Court of the Russian Federation to sentence the Estonian security service officer Eston Kohver to 15 years in prison.
The abduction by the Russian security services of Kohver on Estonian soil on 5 September 2014 and his continued illegal detention are obvious violations of international law. We call on Russia to abide by its international obligations, to immediately release Kohver and to ensure his safe return to Estonia.
