Lithuania’s Foreign Ministry appoints the new Political Director

The Foreign Ministry’s new Political Director, Laimonas Talat-Kelpša, took office this week. He replaced Inga Stanytė-Toločkiene, Lithuania’s newly-appointed Ambassador to Ukraine.

Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabrielius Landsbergis, congratulated Talat-Kelpša on his new position as coordinator for implementing Lithuania’s key foreign policy priorities.

“In this difficult period, one of the most important tasks of the diplomatic service is to respond promptly to national security challenges, to engage in the formation of the Euro-Atlantic agenda actively and to maintain constant close contact with our partners in other capitals,” Landsbergis said.

Before his appointment, Talat-Kelpša served as Ambassador to the Czech Republic. He previously worked in Georgia and India. In 2019, he served as the Chancellor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Talat-Kelpša also worked on the team of then-President Valdas Adamkus. He was responsible for national security and foreign policy issues
