LITHUANIA’S FOREIGN MINISTER WILL PAY A WORKING VISIT TO LATVIA
On 9 January, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vygaudas Ušackas is paying a working visit to Latvia. In Riga, the Minister will be received by President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers, Prime Minister Ivars Godmanis and Minister of Foreign Affairs Maris Riekstins.
Head of Lithuania’s diplomacy and representatives of Latvia will discuss actions of the Baltic States, aimed at strengthening energy independence of the region and promotion of economic cooperation.
During the meetings, a lot of attention is to be dedicated to the issues of NATO and defence, as well as implementation of transport projects. Issues of bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Latvia, and cooperation among the Baltic States will also be discussed.
In Riga, Minister V.Ušackas will also hold meetings with the Lithuanian businessmen working in Latvia and will take part in the opening of an exhibition “Lithuania. Culture and History”, dedicated to the millennium of Lithuania.
The Minister will visit the Lithuanian Secondary School in Riga and will talk with senior pupils, teachers and representatives from the Riga Municipality.
