LITHUANIA‘S FOREIGN MINISTER WILL PARTICIPATE IN EU FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND GENERAL AFFAIRS COUNCIL MEETINGS
On 19-20 November Lithuanian Foreign Affairs Minister Audronius Ažubalis will attend the meetings of the Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union (FAC) and the General Affairs Council (GAC) in Brussels.
Foreign Affairs Council meeting will discuss current political situation in Ukraine after the parliamentary elections that took place on 28 October, the perspectives of the EU-Ukraine relations and signing of the Association Agreement.
Ministers will also review the situation in Syria, Egypt, Mali, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cuba, and the Middle East peace process. Further EU’s cooperation with the United States will be discussed.
The traditional informal meeting of the Nordic and Baltic Foreign Ministers will take place before the Council.
The main issue on the agenda of the forthcoming GAC meeting is the multiannual financial framework for 2014-2020. The Ministers of Foreign Affairs will deliberate upon the new version of the EU’S multiannual budget updated earlier this week.
The Ministers will also discuss the Cohesion Policy Legislative Package, the European Commission legislative and work programme for 2013 and will approve the agenda of the meeting of the European Council that will be held on 13-14 December.
