On 1 July Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vygaudas Ušackas welcomed Lithuanian Honorary Consuls, who are currently paying a visit to Lithuania on the occasion of Lithuania’s millennium and are taking part in the World Lithuanian Economic Forum. The Minister thanked the Honorary Consuls for their effective work and promotion of Lithuania’s name around the world.

“We are glad to celebrate the millennium of Lithuania’s name together with you. I believe that your experience will continue to serve Lithuania in implementing its active foreign policy,” said V.Ušackas.

While speaking about Lithuania’s economy, the Minister emphasized that, first of all, our country was attractive for investment and encouraged Honorary Consuls to actively invite foreign companies to invest into our country.

The Minister drew attention to the fact that Lithuania aimed at creating modern economy that would be based on innovation and knowledge, and in which all the actors would be equivalent partners: the state and business, the academic community and science.

While speaking about possibilities to increase the competitiveness of the country, the Minister stressed that its basis was an educated society and qualified labour force. According to Minister V.Ušackas, Lithuania is also an interesting destination for tourists from abroad.

“I would like to take an opportunity to invite you to join us in implementing our goals in all the above-mentioned areas and in spreading the news around the world about our country as a serious and reliable trade partner,” said Minister V.Ušackas.

During the event, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs conferred the award of honour of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - “The Star of Lithuania’s Millennium” - on President, CEO and founder of the U.S. Company Strategic Staffing Solutions Cindy Pasky for development of business relations between Lithuania sand the U.S.A., investment promotion and charitable work.

On the occasion of Lithuania’s millennium, the honorary award of Lithuania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs “The Star of Lithuania’s Millennium” was established in 2007 and is conferred for merits to the state of Lithuania and its foreign policy.

“The Star of Lithuania’s Millennium” is conferred on Lithuanian citizens and foreigners for their special merits of promoting the name of Lithuania, fostering and developing international relations, as well as for their special merits in the civil service.
