Lithuania’s Foreign Minister thanks French Ambasador for her significant contribution to strengthening bilateral relations

On 5 March, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with outgoing Ambassador of France in Lithuania Maryse Berniau and thanked her for the significant contribution and personal efforts to the development of relations between Lithuania and France.

Accoring to Minister Linkevičius, Lithuania values  strategic partnership and good bilateral relations with France. ‎"Lithuania is grateful to France for enhanced cooperation in security and defence, as well as for its active participation in NATO’s air policing mission in the Baltic States,” said the Minister.

The head of the Lithuanian diplomacy expressed his appreciation for French efforts to find diplomatic solution of the crisis in Ukraine. However, he noted that the situation remained tense, thus it is important to provide all the necessary assistance to Ukraine.

France is an important economic partner for Lithuania and ranks eight among trading partners in EU.‎

Ms. Berniau has served as the Ambassador of France to Lithuania since November 2011.
