Lithuania’s Foreign Minister signs Shimon Peres condolence book

On 5 October in Vilnius, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius signed a condolence book for Shimon Peres, the former Israeli President and Nobel Peace Prize winner at the Israeli Embassy in Vilnius.

“Heartfelt condolences to the people of Israel for the loss of the great Statesman of the world, great Litvak and a true friend of Lithuania. His courage and wisdom will continue to inspire many. His legacy will be honoured by extra efforts to fight for reconciliation and peace,” wrote Lithuania’s Foreign Minister.

Shimon Peres died at the age of 93 on 28 September. On 30 September, Lithuania’s Foreign Minister and the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė attended the funeral of Shimon Peres in Jerusalem.
