LITHUANIA’S FOREIGN MINISTER RECEIVES THE AMBASSADOR OF BUSINESS AWARD FOR THE YEAR 2008
On 17 March at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Vilnius, Lithuania‘s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vygaudas Ušackas received “The Ambassador of Business 2008” award from the International Chamber of Commerce ICC Lithuania. Director-General of ICC Lithuania Algimantas Akstinas presented the Minister with the award for his contribution into the promotion of partnership between Lithuanian and foreign business: successful advertising of Lithuania as a country attractive to investors, the establishment of business partnerships in the U.S.A. and the United Kingdom.
Upon receiving the award the Minister noted that economic diplomacy was one of top priorities of Lithuania’s foreign policy.
“Ministry of Foreign Affairs is a reliable partner of Lithuanian business. The duty of every diplomat all over the world is to work for the Lithuanian business and hand in hand with the Lithuanian business”, Minister V.Ušackas said.
The Minister assured that he would dedicate special attention to the possibilities of increasing the competitiveness of Lithuania, representation of Lithuania‘s economic interests abroad, promotion of Lithuanian exports and the implementation of projects aimed to enhance and strengthen business ties with foreign countries.
In 2001-2006 V.Ušackas was Lithuania‘s Ambassador to the U.S.A., and in 2006-2008 he was Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and ICC Lithuania are close partners while representing the interests of Lithuanian businessmen abroad, organizing business missions, conferences, seminars, round-table discussions and presentations of foreign markets to Lithuanian businessmen.
