Lithuania's Foreign Minister meets with the new French Ambassador
On 9 November, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with the new Ambassador of France to Lithuania Claire Lignières-Counathe, who presented her letters of credence to the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė on 25 October.
"Lithuania is thankful to a responsible and reliable NATO ally – France – for its significant contribution to security of our country and the region," said L. Linkevičius.
With nearly 300 French soldiers and military equipment, France had joined the German-led NATO enhanced forward presence battalion in Lithuania since the beginning of the year to the end of August. In addition, the French Air Force has joined the NATO air policing mission in the Baltic states five times, including four times in Lithuania.
The Ambassador Claire Lignières-Counathe is already the 8th French representative in Lithuania from 1991. She replaced the Ambassador Philippe Jeantaud at the end of the summer.
