Lithuania’s Foreign Minister meets with the new Ambassador of the Republic of Korea
On 17 January, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with the new South Korean Ambassador Choi Sung-joo, who resides in Warsaw. Lithuania’s Foreign Minister welcomed the excellent bilateral relationship, growing trade volumes and reminded Lithuania’s goal of adjusting the issue related to export certificates for agricultural products in the short run.
The South Korean Ambassador assured Lithuania’s Foreign Minister that he aimed to continue to deepen the political, economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries, and visit Lithuania – both its capital and other cities – more frequently.
The participants of the meeting also paid particular attention to regional security issues.
The Ambassador Choi Sung-joo is the thirteenth Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Lithuania, who resides in Warsaw. He presented his letters of credence to the President of Lithuania on 16 January 2017. The Republic of Korea officially recognized Lithuania on 5 September in 1991. The countries established their diplomatic relations on 14 October 1991. South Korea is Lithuania’s second largest trading partner in Asia after China.
