Lithuania’s Foreign Minister meets with the new Ambassador of Brazil, who is visiting Lithuania
On 17 January, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius received the Ambassador of Brazil Carlos Antônio da Rocha Paranhos and discussed bilateral relations.
The interlocutors welcomed the intensifying political and economic cooperation between the countries and agreed to work intensively in multilateral forums, as well as to look for new niches for business, which could benefit the Lithuanian business. Brazil is Lithuania’s second largest partner in Latin America according to trade volume.
The officials noted that in order to maintain their strong political dialogue, it was important to hold the fourth bilateral political consultations in Vilnius this year. The head of Lithuania’s diplomacy reminded of the invitation for the Brazilian Foreign Minister to pay an official visit to Lithuania.
Carlos Antônio da Rocha Paranhos is the eighth Ambassador of Brazil to Lithuania, who resides in Copenhagen. Lithuania and Brazil established their diplomatic relations in 1931 and re-established them on 5 November 1991. Lithuania opened its Consulate General in São Paulo in 2013. The Consul General Laura Guobužaitė heads the Consulate General in São Paulo. Lithuania has also opened its Honorary Consulates in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
