Lithuania’s Foreign Minister meets with Estonia’s new Ambassador
On 5 October, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with the new Ambassador of Estonia to Lithuania Jana Vanaveski. The head of Lithuania’s diplomacy congratulated Estonia on the election of the President and wished it every success in its role next year as the chair of the Baltic cooperation forums and the Presidency of the Council of the EU during the second half of 2017.
Vanaveski outlined possible priorities for Estonia’s Presidency of the Council of the EU, including in the fields of economy (the single market, digital market), energy, security, and the threat of terrorism. Linkevičius assured the Ambassador that Lithuania would be happy to share its experience of holding the Presidency of the Council of the EU with Estonia.
The meeting took place on the eve of the visit of the new Estonian Foreign Minister Jürgen Ligi to Lithuania.
