Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Linkevičius congratulates his Portuguese counterpart on National Day
On 10 June, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated the Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs Augusto Santos Silva on the country’s National Day and wished welfare and prosperity for the whole country as well as its citizens.
Linkevičius noted that Lithuania and Portugal enjoyed close and friendly bilateral relations, and that Portugal was an essential NATO ally. Lithuania’s Foreign Minister thanked Portugal for its contribution to strengthening security in the Baltic states – Portugal has participated in NATO’s Baltic Air Policing mission three times already.
Linkevičius also expressed his confidence that the existing close bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Portugal, as well as their joint effort in the EU, NATO and other multilateral organizations would contribute to addressing global challenges that were important for Europe.
