Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Landsbergis will attend the informal meeting of foreign affairs ministers and the EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum
On 11-14 May, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabrielius Landsbergis will visit Sweden. During the visit, the Foreign Minister will attend an informal meeting of EU foreign affairs ministers (Gymnich), which is organised by the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
On 11 May, Landsbergis will meet with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson to discuss regional security, preparations for the NATO Summit in Vilnius, support for Ukraine, sanctions, EU agenda and bilateral cooperation.
The head of Lithuania’s diplomacy will participate in the Road to Vilnius: Pre-NATO Summit, organised by the U.S. nonpartisan organisation Atlantic Council and the Lithuanian, German and Portuguese embassies in Sweden to discuss the objectives and possible outcomes of the NATO Summit in Vilnius. At the Gymnich meeting on 12 May, foreign ministers will discuss Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and the EU’s further action in support of Ukraine, seeking as broad as possible support for Ukraine’s peace formula. Ministers will also have a strategic discussion on EU-China relations.
On 13 May, the second EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum will be held in Stockholm, where Landsbergis will discuss sustainable economic growth and strengthening economic resilience.
In the margins of the meeting, an informal meeting of EU and Indo-Pacific foreign ministers with the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba will take place. Meetings with foreign ministers of India, Indonesia and Singapore are also expected.
