Lithuania's Foreign Minister Landsbergis: We are grateful to the Netherlands for the contribution to Lithuania’s security

On 23 August, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis met with the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Lithuania Jack Twisss Quarles van Ufford, who recently took office.

The meeting focused on bilateral relations, cooperation within the European Union and NATO, support for Ukraine in the fight against Russia's aggression, and strengthening regional security.

The Foreign Minister welcomed the excellent bilateral relationship and thanked the Netherlands for its contribution to strengthening regional security and for the participation in NATO's missions in Lithuania, stressing that the people of Lithuania greatly appreciated the solidarity of the Netherlands.

As regards Russia's aggression against Ukraine, it was noted that it was crucial to maintain the unity of the EU by providing political, economic, humanitarian and military support for Ukraine in its fight against Russia's military aggression. “Russia is constantly looking for ways to test the European unity, so it is very important for the EU to reach a consensus. In addition, Europe must be ready to defend its positions,” Landsbergis said.
