Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Landsbergis met with Swedish Prime Minister Kristersson in Stockholm

On 11 May, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis met with the Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson to discuss regional security, preparations for the NATO summit in Vilnius, support for Ukraine, sanctions, EU agenda and bilateral cooperation.

“Sweden’s membership of NATO will strengthen the security of the entire region. Hopefully that by the time of the Vilnius Summit, the Swedish flag will by flying alongside the other flags of the Alliance,” Landsbergis said.

During the meeting with the Prime Minister of Sweden, the head of Lithuania’s diplomacy discussed the issues of assistance to Ukraine and the joint effort of the international community to bring Ukraine’s victory closer and ensure the Kremlin regime’s accountability for war crimes and aggression against Ukraine.

Landsbergis and Kristersson also discussed bilateral cooperation. “I am delighted with the growing bilateral trade between Lithuania and Sweden, the strengthening of our economic ties and the confidence of Swedish investors,” the head of Lithuania’s diplomacy said at the meeting.

In 2022, Lithuania-Sweden trade grew by 52 %, and Sweden ranks second in the size of direct investment in Lithuania.
