Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Landsbergis met with NATO’s Secretary General Stoltenberg

On 20 February, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabrielius Landsbergis met with the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at NATO headquarters. The meeting focused on NATO’s upcoming summit in Vilnius to be held on 11 and 12 July 2023.

“We are already hearing partners’ expectations for the NATO summit in Vilnius. The eastern flank expects some tangible progress in implementing Madrid summit decisions and strengthening the deterrence in our countries. At the same time, Ukraine hopes for real practical and political momentum towards Euro-Atlantic integration,” the head of Lithuania’s diplomacy said.

Landsbergis and Stoltenberg discussed the priorities of the NATO summit in Vilnius, plans to strengthen defence and deterrence, Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations, practical and political support for the country that the war has battered for years, Finland and Sweden’s membership of NATO, and the alliance’s partnership with Indo-Pacific partners.
