Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Landsbergis meets with the British Foreign Secretary in Oslo

On 31 May in Oslo, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Gabrielius Landsbergis met with Britain’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs James Cleverly.

“The fact that the NATO summit will take place in Vilnius creates a natural expectation, especially in the Baltic Sea region, that the Alliance will dedicate even more attention to the defence of the eastern flank and deterrence of hostile forces, will provide momentum for Ukraine’s integration into NATO and strengthen the Alliance with new members,” the head of Lithuania’s diplomacy told Cleverly.

The heads of the diplomacy of Lithuania and the United Kingdom also discussed the need to think and plan Ukraine’s reconstruction now, as this would require the entire democratic world to rally.

“Lithuania shares a similar assessment of threats to Europe and the rules-based international order with the United Kingdom, as well as an understanding that reinforced defence and deterrence based on real actions are key preconditions for security on the European continent,” Landsbergis said.
