Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Landsbergis bids farewell to the outgoing U.S. Ambassador

On 1 August, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis bade farewell to the outgoing Ambassador of the United States of America to Lithuania Robert Stuart Gilchrist.

During the meeting, the Foreign Minister thanked the Ambassador for his contribution to fostering and strengthening bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and the United States. “We value the friendship between our countries based on common values and their fostering. The growing pressure from authoritarian regimes has again highlighted the importance of a strong partnership with the United States. We are grateful for the strong support and collaboration,” said Landsbergis.

The meeting also discussed the outcomes of the NATO summit in Vilnius, issues of regional security, support for Ukraine, and cooperation with Indo-Pacific countries. The U.S. Ambassador thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other institutions for successfully organising the NATO summit in Vilnius.
 
The U.S. Ambassador Gilchrist presented his letters of credence to the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda on 4 February 2020.
