Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Landsbergis attends the Munich Security Conference
On 15-18 February, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis attends the 60th Munich Security Conference (MSC).
On 18 February, the head of Lithuania’s diplomacy will be among the keynote speakers at a session called “Adding Chairs to the Table: A Deeper, Wider, and More Capable EU?” on the main stage of the MSC. The session will focus on ways the Russian war against Ukraine affected the enlargement of the European Union. It will also be attended by the Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Olha Stefanišynna, the Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, and the diplomatic advisor to the President of France Emmanuel Bonne. The live broadcast of the session will be available on 18 February at 11:30-12:15 Lithuanian time on the MSC website.
At the MSC, the Foreign Minister will also discuss with other decision-makers the challenges facing transatlantic security, the rules-based international order, the brutal Russian war in Ukraine, the importance of Western support for Ukraine, and the strengthening of NATO deterrence and collective defence.
On the margins of the MSC, Landsbergis will also meet with the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), counterparts from Bulgaria, Moldova, the United Kingdom, Estonia, Latvia, the Holy See and other countries, German politicians.
This year, the MSC is celebrating its 60th anniversary. The annual event brings together political leaders, academics and business representatives to address the world’s most pressing security concerns.
