Lithuania's Foreign Minister Landsbergis: Ahead of the NATO summit in Vilnius, we expect significant progress in strengthening forward defence and the security of the entire Eastern flank
On 29-30 November, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis attended the NATO meeting ofthe Ministers of Foreign Affairs that was held in Bucharest, Romania.
Today, in Bucharest, the head of Lithuania's diplomacy met with NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe, the United States Army General Christopher Gerard Cavoli, and discussed the security situation in the region.
"The meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Bucharest affirmed that our partners assess security situation and threats in Europe the same way as we do. Ahead of the next NATO summit in Vilnius, we expect significant progress in strengthening our forward defence and the security of the entire Eastern flank," Landsbergis said after the meeting with the U.S. General.
Yesterday, Landsbergis also attended an expanded meeting of the G7, dedicated to the coordination of help for Ukraine's energy sector.
"Russia is blackmailing the world, disrupting food and energy supply, and carrying out immoral attacks on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure. We must help Ukraine restore not only its power grid but also defend it. We must help Ukraine solve the problem fundamentally — win on the battlefield," Landsbergis said on behalf of the three Baltic states.
