Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Landsbergis ahead of the EU’s Foreign Affairs Council: “Events in Russia should not distract us. We should keep our focus on Ukraine”

“Last few days have only confirmed Lithuania’s repeated truth for many years that Russia is an unpredictable and dangerous neighbour,” the head of Lithuania’s diplomacy said ahead of the EU’s Foreign Affairs Council.

“Events in Russia should not distract us. We should keep our focus on Ukraine. They also reaffirm the need to strengthen the resilience and defence on the eastern flank,” Landsbergis said in Luxembourg.

In response to questions on security, Lithuania’s Foreign Minister recalled the Madrid agreement on the readiness of NATO members to strengthen the Alliance’s defence where and when needed. The answer is clear – we need it now at strategically important points on the eastern flank of the Alliance.
