Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis: Lithuania looks forward to the United Kingdom’s cooperation in preventing irregular migration from Belarus

On 28 June in Rome, Italy, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis met with his British counterpart, Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab on the margins of the Plenary Ministerial meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh/ISIS.

Landsbergis briefed Raab on the worrisome situation on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border, where the Belarusian regime was carrying out a hybrid attack against Europe by facilitating irregular migration to Lithuania.

“The Belarusian regime has grossly violated human rights and international norms by sending irregular migrants from Iraq and Syria to Lithuania. Lithuania expects the UK's cooperation in solving this artificially created problem”, said Landsbergis after the meeting with his British colleague.

The interlocutors also agreed to hold a Nordic–Baltic Foreign Ministers' meeting in London soon with the participation of the British Foreign Secretary and exchanged the most relevant information on EU-UK relations, and the relationship with China.
