Lithuania’s Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis: Lithuania appreciates the American Jewish Committee's historical support
On 20 September in New York, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis met with representatives of the American Jewish Committee (AJC).
Landsbergis noted that the AJC's historical support for the recognition of Lithuania’s independence and membership of NATO was very much appreciated. Lithuania's Foreign Minister called for making the most of possibilities of cooperation between Lithuania and the world Jewish community in all areas.
The AJC is one of the leading global Jewish advocacy organizations, which, together with other international Jewish organisations, raises the issues related to the fight against racism and Israel's relations with its neighbors.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania and diplomatic representations cooperate closely with the Jewish organisations in the United States and the world.
On 20 September, during a solemn ceremony, a long-time friend and supporter of Lithuania, the CEO of the AJC David Harris was awarded the Cross of the Knight of the Order for Merits to Lithuania.
On 19-22 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis participates in the General Debate of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly and in a number of high-level events in New York, the United States of America.
