Lithuania's Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis and his Portuguese counterpart discussed priorities of the Portuguese Presidency of the EU
On 23 December, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis had a telephone conversation with his Portuguese counterpart Augusto Santos Silva and discussed priorities of the upcoming Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, key items on bilateral and international agendas.
“We support the main priorities of the Portuguese Presidency of the EU— a resilient, green, social, digital and global Europe,” said the head of Lithuania's diplomacy, who also stressed that the Eastern Partnership initiative must remain high on the EU agenda.
As regards an ongoing struggle against COVID-19, Landsbergis highlighted the need for better coordination of COVID-19 travel restrictions between member states.
The Foreign Ministers also discussed the need to establish contacts with a new U.S. administration as soon as possible in order to further strengthen the transatlantic link, as well as the negotiations between the EU and the UK, and migration issues.
Landsbergis invited the Portuguese Foreign Minister to pay a visit to Lithuania.
