Lithuania’s Foreign Minister congratulates Uzbekistan on the 25th anniversary of Independence
On 1 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Independence and stressed the importance of successful bilateral cooperation in the spheres of trade, transport, education, science and tourism.
“I highly value friendly relations between Lithuania and Uzbekistan, and sincerely hope that the successful cooperation that our countries enjoy will open up new opportunities for joint projects, especially in the spheres of trade, transport, education, science and tourism,” reads the Lithuanian Foreign Minister’s congratulatory letter.
In 2008, Lithuania and Uzbekistan established the Intergovernmental Commission for trade and economic cooperation. The bilateral trade is growing consistently for the fifth year in a row. In 2015, the turnover amounted to EUR 115.6 euros.
Uzbekistan declared its independence on 1 September 1991.
