Lithuania’s Foreign Minister congratulates Ukraine on Independence Day

On 24 August, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated Ukraine on the occasion of its Independence Day and stressed that Lithuania would continue to support the country’s efforts to create its European future.

“I wish Ukraine and its people well-being and best of success in the efforts of creating a modern and prosperous country. Please be assured that Lithuania always stands ready to provide its assistance and share its experiences with your country,” reads the Foreign Minister’s letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin.

The Lithuanian head of diplomacy also reiterated the country’s strong support to the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

The country celebrates its Independence Day on 24 August. On that day in 1991, the Supreme Council of Ukraine (Verkhovna Rada) announced the “Act of Declaration of Independence of Ukraine”.
