Lithuania’s Foreign Minister congratulates the U.S. Secretary of State on Independence Day
On 4 July, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on the occasion of the Independence Day of the United States of America, thanked him for his country’s continued support for Lithuania’s goal of creating a secure and prosperous future, and wished success and prosperity to the people of the United States.
“The United States remains the beacon of freedom and democracy, a source of inspiration to many countries around the world. During the Soviet occupation the support of your country was vital for us, as it strengthened the hope of millions of Lithuanians for free and democratic future,” reads the letter of congratulations.
Lithuania’s Foreign Minister also said that this year marked the 25th anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Lithuania and the U.S., and thanked the U.S. for its continued support and close friendship during all these years.
“We remain committed to enhance the strategic partnership between our nations and working together for safe and prosperous future of the Euro-Atlantic community. Lithuania will remain a staunch ally of the United States in fighting together economic, political and security challenges,” reads the letter.
Lithuania’s Foreign Minister also stressed Kerry’s personal engagement and outstanding diplomatic activities that had brought the hope of peace in many places of the world and underlined the importance of close cooperation between Lithuania and the United States at the upcoming NATO Summit in Warsaw, where very important decisions were to be made towards better ensuring the security of Lithuania and the Alliance as a whole.
