Lithuania’s Foreign Minister congratulates Serbia on National Day
On 15 February, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated the first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dacic and the people of Serbia on the occasion of the celebration of the National Day. Linkevičius sent a letter of congratulations, expressing his support for Serbia’s EU integration path and indicating the importance of European values for strengthening bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Serbia.
“We welcome Serbia’s progress in the EU accession negotiations – the key driving force for necessary European reforms and good neighbourly relations. It is my firm belief that Serbia will continue to demonstrate its clear European orientation and to play an important role in ensuring stability, peace and reconciliation in the Western Balkans,” reads the letter.
Lithuania and Serbia (the then Federal Republic of Yugoslavia) established their bilateral relations on 22 December 2000.
