Lithuania’s Foreign Minister congratulates Montvydas on his great performance at Eurovision Song Contest
On Monday in Vilnius, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with Donatas Motvydas, who represented Lithuania at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest and finished ninth with his song. Linkevičius thanked him for his impressive performance and for promoting Lithuania’s name.
“I want to thank you for your very great diplomatic effort to promote Lithuania’s name. Both through your words and through setting a personal example you have acted as Lithuania’s true Ambassador. Your great effort and talent have brought you ninth place, which is a great achievement” said Linkevičius.
“On Saturday evening the face and voice of Donatas personified us to the whole of Europe and even to Australia. Thank you for your efficient, suggestive, joyful and truly memorable performance. We were noticed, appreciated and will be remembered – the more talented Lithuanians there are, the more visible and well known Lithuania will be,” said Linkevičius.
Lithuania’s Foreign Minister also said that it was a rare opportunity to present Lithuania to the 200 million-strong audience and this opportunity was used properly.
Motvydas shared his impressions from the Eurovision Song Contest in Sweden and thanked the viewers for their trust and support.
Employees of Lithuania’s Foreign Ministry took part in the meeting with Motvydas.
