Lithuania’s Foreign Minister congratulates Mexico on Independence Day
On 16 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs Luis Videgaray Caso on Mexico’s Independence Day and wished the country every success in the future, as well as prosperity.
In the letter of congratulations, the head of Lithuania’s diplomacy wrote that 2017 saw a significant strengthening of bilateral ties between Lithuania and Mexico. After a 9 year break, the bilateral political consultation was held and the Honorary Consulate of Mexico was opened in Vilnius. “I believe that our mutually beneficial cooperation will only grow stronger in the future,” said Lithuania’s Foreign Minister.
The friendship agreement between Lithuania and Mexico was signed on 31 May 1938. Lithuania and Mexico re-established their diplomatic relations on 5 November 1991.
