Lithuania’s Foreign Minister congratulates Malta on its Independence Day

On 21 September, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius congratulated the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malta George Vella and the people of Malta on the Independence Day.

“I truly believe that friendly relations and successful cooperation between Lithuania and Malta will continue to develop for the benefit of our nations and will further contribute to our ultimate goal of creating a Europe whole, free and at peace,” reads the letter.

According to Linkevičius, it is also important to continue our close cooperation during Malta’s Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2017.

Malta will hold the Presidency of the Council of the EU from 1 January to 30 June.

Malta declared its independence on 21 September 1964.
